In the International History Olympiad held at College of William & Mary in July of 2015, while representing the state of South Carolina, Abhimanyu Sailesh 8th grader at Dent Middle School earned a Bronze medal for the Hextathlon event representing the three member US team of Connectilinas drawn from Connecticut, North Carolina and South Carolina in a field of 40 US State and international teams. Hextathlon is a collaborative team event in world history competition consisting of fill in the blank quiz, crossword puzzle, multiple choice quiz, audio quiz, visual quiz and map quiz. He also had the distinction of being the flag bearer for South Carolina.
Over the Martin Luther King weekend in January of this year, Abhimanyu Sailesh came in 3rd at East Georgia Fall Bee held at Augusta, GA in the JV division History Bee as well as the US History Bee competitions. His performance earned him his second consecutive trip to the National History Bee High School Competition held at Washington DC from April 22nd to April 24th.
By earning a high score in the online qualifying exam, he qualified for the Regional Middle School History Bee held at Charlotte, NC on May 4th. At the regional competitions covering the states of North Carolina, South Carolina and parts of Virginia, Abhimanyu tied for the second place out of the 100 regional 8th grade qualifiers taking part in the competition, and thereby earning a third consectuive trip to National Middle School History Bee Championship to be held at Chicago, IL fromJune 9th -12th. Last year in the same national competition held at Louisville, Kentucky, he had made it to the Championship play offs.
