April is Month of the Military Child
On Tuesday, April 17th, we will celebrate Purple Up Day! So make sure you show your support of military kids by wearing purple. Be creative. Be supportive. Encourage others to wear their purple too. Why is purple the color we wear on this day? It’s because purple symbolizes all branches of the military- including the colors: Coast Guard blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red, and Air Force blue. Facts: Did you know there are 2 million military connected children in America. Did you know that military connected kids experience 6-9 moves throughout grades K-12. What is the definition of a military connected kid? A child, adolescent, or student with a close family member (parent, step parent, sibling, cousin) or friend serving in any branch of the United States Armed Forces. Mr. Palmo is now accepting poems for the poetry reflection contest. Please stop at the media center to provide your poem, and feel free to vote, even if you don’t enter into the contest. Culinary Throwdown, will comprise 2 member teams, of student culinarians and their teacher/faculty member of choice, from each middle school, and then display their creations for invited guests and judges to see and sample. Prizes are awarded for food presentation, safety practices, creativity, and taste. Culinary Throwdown challenges middle-school aged, promising chefs, to turn a selection of everyday ingredients into an extraordinary dish. Like the TV show “Chopped”, the chefs are given a mystery basket with unrelated ingredients, and the dish each competitor prepares must contain all of these ingredients. Are you a Middle School Student in Richland Two and have a favorite faculty member in mind, you would like to compete with? PICK UP AN ENTRY FORM TODAY! This year Mrs. Gilchrist and Christal Robinson will be sponsoring the Dent Team... We will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 to 4:15. The first practice will be Feb 6th.
